Shades and Blinds Making your own shades and blinds

blind or shade ideas and instructions

Making Your Own Shades

Yes, you can make your own blinds and shades. I know they seem rather mysterious or even ominous to make. The worst part about making them, is getting them squared up. Then, after you get them all squared up, you have the challenge of getting them to work in your non-square window! That is why taking measurements is so important.

Just remember to measure the top, middle and bottom of the inside of the window (use the smallest measurement) where it'll hang and, also the left, center and right side inside the window (again using the smallest measurement). This will insure that your treatment will function smoothly as you open and close it.

If you're mounting it on the window frame, outside the window, this isn't as much an issue.
